Location & Overview

Removal of Asbestos was undertaken prior to the demolition of six buildings covering 5.4 acres, and carpark in Croydon town centre.

Work, Challenges & Solutions

The removal of 20,000m2 of limpet sprayed asbestos was undertaken from within the car park, and all asbestos containing floor tiles, bitumen and floor adhesive, together with asbestos insulation board, gaskets and other associated asbestos products from the buildings removed and disposed of in a safe manor.
All licensed and non-notifiable licensed asbestos works were carried out.
We used innovative techniques, which included the safe precise cutting of embedded asbestos products, known as ‘coring’, which avoided breaking out the concrete window mullions. Using traditional methods would have required extensive asbestos enclosures to be built, therefore the asbestos removal team were able to achieve a substantial cost saving and time reduction by using coring technology.
