Network Rail held its first ever asbestos conference in Manchester, with about 100 people across Network Rail attending the one day. Ace Consultants was one of 8 keynote speakers who were scheduled to deliver a presentation. Unfortunately one of the speakers from CIRA was unable to attend, therefore Ben Angel-James stepped into their slot to deliver a speech and additional slides over and above his own speech and presentation with Kimberley Webb later that day.
The aim of the conference was to build the level of knowledge and awareness of asbestos within Network Rail’s Managed Infrastructure. This followed years of work and leadership from their Safety, Technical and Engineering Department, who created an asbestos management standard, training courses and other relevant guidance, to ensure compliance with The Control of Asbestos Regulations across all their disciplines.
