Enabling Works & Civil Engineering

In the remediation of brownfield sites it is sometimes impractical to treat the source of contamination. The Permeable Reactive Barrier method is a long term, low maintenance solution to groundwater problems and enables measurable results to be logged over a period of time to monitor environmental improvements.

Permeable Reactive Barriers (PRBs) do not treat the source of contamination but run from the surface of the ground down to an impermeable underground layer, to trap groundwater against it. This can then be filtered through controlled areas in the barrier at a set rate to clean out any contaminants.
