Overview
From basement to skyline, 39 East Road showcases our engineering capability to deliver ambitious structures in the most challenging environments.
Relevant Experience
This complex and high-profile redevelopment demonstrated our strength in managing technical construction challenges with efficiency, innovation and uncompromising quality.
Transforming the former Dial a Cab building into a 22 storey mixed use tower, we combined engineering with a solutions led approach that kept the project moving safely, smoothly and to an exceptional standard.
From the outset, our team took full ownership of all enabling activities, including asbestos removal, soft strip, and controlled demolition using specialist 16T and 22T excavators.
Working on a site with significant archaeological interest, we coordinated intrusive surveys and stakeholder engagement, ensuring compliance, transparency and complete community reassurance.
Technical expertise was critical in constructing a three level, 680sqm basement box supported by robust propping. We delivered all secant piling, foundation piling and temporary works, including a piled tower crane base. The scale and precision of this basement operation was a defining aspect of the entire project.
Slipform capability was at the heart of the superstructure. The core had multiple adaptations designed in the temporary state for the installation of a tower crane upon the core at the overall level.
Achieving an outstanding CCS score of 39/45, we demonstrated our commitment to being a considerate contractor. From carbon-absorbing paint to noise reduction measures, coordinated traffic management and weekly monitoring of the nearby Northern Line tunnel, we delivered a project that respected its neighbours as much as its engineering.
