Webbing Lanyard & Shock Absorber.

The RGL1 lanyard is an industry standard, and normally the minimum equipment issued with a harness for working at height, the webbing used in the manufacture provides greater strength, wear and shear resistance compared to other webbing. 

  • The RGL1 is supplied in two standard lengths: 1.3Mtr and 1.8Mtr
  • It is also treated with a water repellent coating which should extend the life of this product.
  • This lanyard should be used when the operative is working from a static position, connected to a fixed anchor point.
  • If movement between anchorages is required, a twin leg lanyard should be used (RGL3), to provide constant protection.

Rope Lanyard & Shock Absorber.

The RGL2 lanyard is maufactured using a 12mm Kernmantle rope offering excellent wear resistance.

  • The RGL2 is supplied in two lengths: 1.3Mtr and 1.8Mtr
  • The lanyard is fitted with a standard shock absorber pack, even though the rope itself has some shock absorbing capacity.
  • The rope used in the manufacture of this lanyard, shows some resistance to alkalis, oils and organic solvents.
  • This lanyard should be used when the operative is working from a static position, connected to a fixed anchor point.
  • If movement between anchorages is required, a twin leg lanyard should be used (RGL3 webbing or RGL8 Rope), to provide constant protection.

Twin Leg Webbing Lanyard & Shock Absorber.

This RGL3 system is generally used for tower climbing, steel erecting, scaffolding and maintenance on open structures.

  • The RGL3 twin leg lanyard is supplied in two standard lengths, 1.3Mtr and 1.8Mtr.
  • With the same specifications as the RGL 1, the extra leg allows movement between anchorage points by means of double clipping.  
  • When used in conjunction with two girder slings (RGK26), the RGL3 can be used as a means of progression through suitable structures where no fixed lifeline or eye bolts are available.
  • The “Soft Edge” webbing used in the manufacture provides greater strength, wear and shear resistance compared to other webbing.
  • It is also treated with a water repellent coating which should extend the life of this product.

Webbing Extension Strop.

The RGL4 is supplied in a 450mm length and is normally used as an extension strop fitted to the rear dee ring of a full body harness.

  • When used in this manner, it allows an operative to self-connect to a fall arrest block (RGA1-8) by extending the attachment point on the harness, and bringing it into the field of vision.
  • The “Soft Edge” webbing used in the manufacture provides greater strength, wear and shear resistance compared to other webbing.
  • It is also treated with a water repellent coating which should extend the life of this product.

Webbing Restraint Lanyard.

The RGL5 is a restraint lanyard supplied in any length up to 2 mtrs to act as a leash for an operative working at height.

  • It is important to understand the principles of “fall restraint” as the RGL5 can only be used for fall restraint, as there is no shock absorbsion built into the system.
  • If there is any possibility of an operative stepping/falling over an exposed edge, or falling through a fragile surface, a fall arrest product should be used.
  • The “Soft Edge” webbing used in the manufacture provides greater strength, wear and shear resistance compared to other webbing.
  • It is also treated with a water repellent coating which should extend the life of this product.

Rope Restraint Lanyard.

The RGL5R is a restraint lanyard supplied in two standard lengths 1.3 mtr  & 1.8 mtr to act as a leash for an operative working at height to be prevented from a risk of fall.

  • It is important to understand the principles of "fall restraint" as the RGL5R can only be used for fall restraint, as there is no shock absorption built into the system.
  • If there is any possibility of an operative falling, a fall arrest lanyard must be used.
  • We use 12mm Kernmantle rope in the manufacture of this product which provides greater strength and superior wear resistance compared to webbing.

Elasticated Webbing Lanyard & Shock Absorber.

The RGL6 is a general-purpose lanyard used when the operative is working from a static position connected to a fixed anchor point.

  • The RGL6 is supplied in two lengths measured at full expansion, 1.3 Mtr and 1.8 Mtr
  •  If movement between anchorages is required, a twin leg lanyard should be used (RGL3 or RGL9) to provide constant protection.
  • The elastication in the lanyard reduces the amount of hanging slack in the lanyard, which can be helpful when working in tight spaces to help reduce trip hazards and entanglement.

Shock Absorber.

The RGL7 is similar to the standard shock pack, which is fitted to all of the RidgeGear fall arrest lanyards.

  • When supplied as an individual unit, the RGL7 is fitted with RGK12 delta links at both ends.
  • The maximum extension of the RGL7 is 1.75M when fully deployed.
  • This unit is also fitted with a “back up” length of webbing for reassured strength and security.
  • The transparent protective sleeve covering the unit, allows the user to visually inspect the condition of the RGL7 prior to each use.

The RGL9 system is generally used for tower climbing, steel erecting, scaffolding and maintenance on open structures.

Steel Chain Lanyard & Shock Absorber.

The RGL10 was originally designed for the mining industry, as the chain lanyard length provided protection against damage, due to falling debris.

  • The RGL10 is fitted with the same shock absorber pack as all of the other RidgeGear fall arrest lanyards and is supplied in one standard length of 1.8Mtr
  • Although this is a heavy weight lanyard, once fitted, the user doesn’t feel a marked difference to using other lanyards.
  • Due to the weight of the chain, it tends to keep away from the user whilst working.

  • Sewn terminations covered with protective heat shrink fitted with triple action karabiner for added safety.
  • Karabiner connected with nylon thimble for ease of operation.
  • Velcro double sided tab fitted to karabiner allows for temporary attachment of lanyard to harness during climbing.
  • Double action hook provides quick and safe connection to harness ‘D’ ring.
  • Additional label sewn inside velcro pocket to allow for entering user details.
  • Nylon kernmantle static rope has high energy absorption and exceptional resistance to abrasion.
  • Rope strength in excess of 40kN meets the requirements of EN 1891.
  • Available with different hook/karabiner.
  • Fully approved, trialled and used extensively by major utility company.
  • Can be attached direct to suitable anchorage point or can be choked around pole.

  • The RGL13 is supplied in two standard lengths, 0.9 – 1.3 Mtr and 1.2 – 1.8 Mtr
  • The 40kN webbing used in the manufacture provides greater strength compared to other webbing and systems.
  • The additional benefit of adjustability allow for greater flexibility.
  • The lanyard length can be adjusted to suit the application.
  • Potential trip hazard can be avoided and potential free fall distance can be reduced which is less possible with a non-adjusting lanyard.
  • This lanyard should be used when the operative is working from a static position, connected to a fixed anchor point.

Kinetic Fall Arrest Lanyard.

The RGL20 is a new innovation in safety lanyards, which incorporates inner webbing that, in the event of a fall will stretch under a constant controlled force thus reducing the impact on the wearer. 

  • The RGL20 is usually supplied in two standard lengths: 1.3mtr and 1.8mtr excluding connectors
  • The outer webbing provides additional strength way in excess of the 22kN requirements of EN354.
  • Typical results show a breaking load of around 27kN.
  • In addition to the ambient tests required of EN354 / 355, this product has also been tested in wet, frozen wet and frozen dry conditions of – 35 degrees C.
  • The RGL20 only has these 2 components thus providing versatility, simplicity and negates the need for a separate bulky shock pack.
  • The fall arrest force trace is a lot smoother than with conventional tear webbing, and the permanent elongation (displacement) is also less at approx 1.20mtrs for a fail factor 2.
  • Tear webbing extends by approx 1.55mtrs, therefore the clearance below the user can be reduced.
  • Inspection is simplified due to minimal use of components and the total weight is less than other typical lanyard types.
  • The RGL20 also incorporates a rip stitch indicator that automatically deploys in the event of a fall.
  • The outer webbing is also treated with a water repellent coating, which should extend the life of this product.
