Please Help Support The Freshwater Independent Lifeboats

1st June 2015

On the August 16th Phill Cunningham, Assistant Manager of Thameside Lifting, will be peddling 73 miles around the wilds of Colchester, taking part in the Wiggle Sportive Bicycle Ride ‘The Only Way’.

The Only Way Sportive starts at the home of Colchester FC and takes riders into Essex along a scenic course, visiting many historical Essex villages where the Roman and Saxon influences can be seen, before turning North and into Suffolk where the most northerly point of the route is.

Onwards and Southwards to medieval Lavenham, re-entering Essex at Burges where the only true account of a Dragon was recorded in 1405! 15 flattish miles later marks the finish where Phill will hopefully receive a Finishers T shirt and a well-deserved Medal! He will be raising money for the Freshwater Independent Lifeboat, which operate 2 boats 24/7 in an area up to 30M off shore from Hurst Point to St Catherine’s point, on the Isle of Wight.

Entirely independent, they rely on donations and fundraising by volunteers to run this service. The crews are all trained volunteers who give their time willingly to save lives at sea, so this is truly a very worthy cause for a group who provide an invaluable service.

Any help you could give would be much appreciated, so if you wish to sponsor Phill please click the following link: http://www.justgiving.com/owner-email/pleasesponsor/phill-cunningham For all you cyclists out there, here’s the link to the ride in case you wish to take a look. http://www.ukcyclingevents.co.uk/events/wiggle-the-only-way-sportive/
