Cambridge Demolition Site Reduces Fuel Consumption

April was a quiet month as we waited for the approval from Cambridge City Council to commence the main demolition works. The boiler house and cycle store have been demolished with items salvaged, and MKA Ecology have undertaken the works associated with the bat licence - with the good weather over the Easter break the bats have also vacated the building. Cambridgeshire Fire Service undertook a major exercise at the beginning of the month and continued to utilise the facilities on site to carry out more training through April. Our site cabins are now fully operational with all the site walkways set up including a bike store for our colourful site bikes, which have been getting quite a lot of attention around the city. We have reduced the site generators down to one ultra-quiet Hybrid Generator and continue to use our environmental monitoring systems, with noise, dust and vibration levels remaining low.  The site hoarding is now complete, along with the hoarding lights which operate on photocells utilising the longer days, therefore drawing less energy. We are proud to announce that this is one of our first demolition sites in the UK to run the site cabins and hoarding lights from one of John F Hunt Power’s new Hybrid Generator fleet, thus reducing the amount of diesel we use and ensuring a quieter run site!
